Danielle Shook DNP, MSN, APRN, NP-C

Family Nurse Practitioner

Owner

Dr. Shook is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She has been a nurse for over 30 years. She earned her master’s degree at University of Colorado, Colorado Springs through Beth El School of Nursing and her Doctor of Nursing Practice through Frontier Nursing University. Her nursing experience includes 10 years in Obstetrics and 7 years in Hospice homecare. She has over 12 years’ experience as an NP which includes family practice at the Air Force Academy and urgent care with UC Health, Centura and the Army Premier Clinic. She has been providing acute care house calls for Summit County for the last 7 years. 

Leslie Shook MSN, APRN, NP-C

Family Nurse Practitioner

 

Les Shook NP-C is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with over 12 years experience in emergency and ICU nursing. He earned his master’s degree at University of Colorado, Colorado Springs through Beth El School of Nursing. As a Nurse Practitioner, Les has over 13 years experience in Urgent Care with UC Health and Centura. He has been providing acute care house calls in Summit County throughout his career as an NP. Les is also a Major in the Air Force Reserves serving on the Critical Care Air Transport Team and tasked with planning medical training exercises through the Air Force and Army.

David Gray MD

Physician – Founder

Dr. Gray MD is a Board-Certified emergency room physician with 39 years’ experience. He has been an expert in Altitude Medicine and resident of Breckenridge for over 17 years. Dr. Gray started High Altitude Mobile Physicians as he saw a need for an alternative to waiting hours in an emergency facility and spending an enormous amount of money to be seen for something that could easily and safely taken care of in the home. His caring and vast knowledge makes him a great asset to his patients. In the winter, you will find him on the slopes, snow biking daily. He continues to provide support to the practice through his wealth of knowledge and experience. 

Alex Peterson DNP, APRN, NP-C

Nurse Practitioner

Dr. Peterson is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with a combined 20-year experience in the Operating Room and Urgent Care setting. Alex earned her Master of Science in Nursing degree and Doctor of Nursing Practice at the Medical University of South Carolina. She has spent the last 20 years of nursing within the Denver/Boulder area. Dr. Peterson recently retired from the US Space Force Reserves serving as an ER/Clinical nurse. Dr. Peterson loves to hike, ski, run, bike and explore the Colorado mountains with her family during her free time.

Kayla Gray VanderKooi DO

Doctor of Osteopathy

Dr. Gray Vanderkooi, D.O. is the daughter of Dr. David Gray. She is a graduate of Rocky Vista University Medical School. She graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder with a bachelor’s degree in Integrative Physiology.  Kayla completed her emergency medicine residency training at CHRISTUS Health-Texas A&M in Corpus Christi, TX. Kayla has spent countless hours training with High Altitude Mobile Physicians. Kayla’s professional interests include global medicine and emergency medical services. 

Cathy Poral MA, BSN, RN

Registered Nurse

Cathy Poral has been a registered nurse for over 30 years.  She graduated with a BSN from Virginia Commonwealth University/ The Medical College of Virginia. Her career includes labor & delivery, college health, hospice, urgent care and public health nursing. Cathy was awarded the Excellence in Nursing award in 2016 by the El Paso Country Medical Society for her work in Public Health nursing for the Colorado Springs Fire Department. Cathy works in Albuquerque, NM for Presbyterian Hospital and is a travel nurse when she is not triage nursing in Breckenridge. Cathy is also a nurse-herbalist and holds a Master of Arts degree in clinical psychology from Radford University
